ROLE

Product and Industrial design student (2024)

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Using Figma, you will create an app to help students ‘get stuff done’. This will take the form of a ‘task management’ app or productivity tool. As part of this brief you may want to consider ways to encourage motivation / prevent procrastination, alongside just managing tasks.

Welcome with purpose

The goal was to design an app that put the “Product” in productivity, focusing on essential functionality and a clean, simple interface. Unlike typical time management tools, it allowed users to record reminders vocally rather than writing or reading every task, making the experience faster, more accessible, and less tedious. Usability testing of the first iteration revealed key insights, captured visually here, which informed improvements and set the direction for the next stage of the project.

Final Design

Daynote is an app that allows users to manage daily tasks and set reminders using voice notes for convenience. Usability testing of the first iteration highlighted improvements needed in readability, accessibility, colour, and navigation. These insights guided the final design, resulting in a streamlined, user-centred app that makes task management faster, easier, and more intuitive.

Key Takeaways

The project reinforced the importance of user-centred design, iterative testing, and simplifying interactions to create a practical and accessible productivity app.
