Muse

This project involved the design and development of Muse, a desktop speaker casing created for an electronic amplifier kit and tailored to a specific demographic. Designed for a young, work-from-home professional seeking to elevate their workspace, Muse was developed in SolidWorks and realised as a functional working model, blending technical precision with aesthetic refinement.

Understanding the User

Target personas were developed to define the target user and guide design decisions. This ensured that the speaker concept was tailored to real user needs and preferences, keeping the design process focused and human-centred from the outset.

From Concept to Creation

The design process for Muse began with initial sketches exploring form and function, before progressing into refined concepts within SolidWorks. Prototypes were produced to test feasibility, culminating in a fully working physical model that balanced technical requirements with aesthetic appeal.

Conclusion

The project successfully delivered Muse, a desktop speaker that not only housed the amplifier kit effectively but also aligned with the needs of the chosen user persona. By balancing functionality with aesthetic appeal, the final design demonstrated how thoughtful, human-centred design can transform a technical kit into a product that enhances both sound and workspace experience.
